I guess i missed it

But my last post was my 100th post. Pretty cool. Once again, I have to make this short cause my lunch break was cut in half(at least I go home earlier!) Anywho, Rob brought up an interesting post idea. My thoughts on the election. Honestly, I really don't care who gets elected. As long as George Bush is not president, I'm happy. Both candidates are pretty good candidates but neither of them really pull me in either direction. Plus, what people tend to forget, it doesn't really matter who the president is, he doesn't have the last say in what laws are passed or what's going to go on, he needs the aid of congress. Also, what people forget is the fact that even if a congressperson is a democrat or republican doesn't mean that they'll always vote that way when laws come up because people are always making deals with the other side. Also, I personally got burned out on politics in college and I don't really care. I know, I'm a bad person but I'm spent arguing politics. This will probably be the last time I write about politics until the next election, which I will say the same thing. Now, if Obama was to end one of his speaches by yelling, "CAN YOU DIG IT!" I think I would vote for him solely on that. It's not a good reason, but at least it's a reason, ha ha.

Obama sucks. He speaks and makes promises like he's the second coming, with no explaination as to how he'll do it. Even Bill Clinton who is supposed to be supporting him says he has no idea how he's going to make good on all this. McCain is a war hero, and he doesn't just tow the party line. He does what he believes is right. Also, his VP is a milf, who has quite a track record for getting things done.

And by the way, remember all the energy I spent defending A-Rod early this year? Forget it. I'll continue to cheer for him, but I'm done pretending that I want him at bat in a big spot. Of course that goes for just about everyone else on the team save for maybe Giambi. A-Rod is an easy scape goat, but the fact is that no one else on the team hit with runners on base either. Abreu has been the most consistant hitter. I envision that I will spend the next 9 years watching A-Rod compile sick numbers, and break all kinds of records, and retire as the greatest player that ever lived... who never won a championship. I hope I'm wrong.

I highly agree with your analysis of the election.

Obama, Change We Can Believe In. I guess it's just a matter if you believe it. Also, I'd like to thank McCain for having a vpilf. That's a real term check out http://www.vpilf.com/. That should make things more interesting.

Not surprisingly, this blog was the first I've heard of him having a female running mate. However, if anything she looks more like a gilf (grandma) and I'm pretty sure I don't even agree with the "ilf" part. What are you guys seeing that I'm not?

Yeah I'm lukewarm on how sexy she is. She was, however, in the Miss Alaska pageant back in 1984 or something. I do think it would be weird to be with an Alaskan, but maybe they're really good in bed because they have to keep warm somehow? I'm not really sure, I'll have to put some more thought into it.

What we can all agree on is that America is about to have either a minority or a woman in one of the two highest offices in our government, which is a great thing.

Who's in first place, and who's losing to Tampa Bay by 4.5 games?

Amazing how people talk crap to take focus away from their own failures.

I was just quoting an AP news headline.

What is your definition of failure? Is it winning two world series in four years, or more along the lines of having a seven game lead erase itself in one month, for example?

Also the NY Mets are trailing Tampa Bay by 9 games.

Again... talking crap to hide your failures. You can say the Red Sox won two world series in the last 4 years, but you can also say that the Red Sox won two world series in the last 90 years. Not really that impressive when you think about it. Also, I don't care if they won the past 15 years, it's this year that matters when talking about your team. You're sounding like a Yankees fan now, harking on past successes instead of focusing on recent failures.

Also, I don't know if you know how baseball works, but there are divisions. The Mets are not in the Rays division, let alone the same league, hence they are not trailing them. The Mets are in first place so deal with it.

If arguments need to be based solely on the most recent events possible for you to consider them, then Boston won (convincingly) and NY Mets lost (painfully) last night. Therefore the Red Sox are infinitely more successful using your criteria.

We've also got terrific homegrown young players everywhere - infield, outfield, starting pitching, and relief. We had a pitcher I've never heard of come up from AA last night, make his ML debut, and he shut down the White Sox. Our top 5 picks from the 2005 draft are all on the major league roster right now and contributing. What we see from the Red Sox is past success, current success, and future success.

The Mets have blown 11 of 26 possible saves since the All Star Break and increasingly seem like a poor man's Yankees - a team without a plan. I think the Pedro Martinez saga is a great microcosm of the difference between BOS and NYM.

Now, I'm not going to write any more about Mets/Red Sox in this thread.

But anyway, I thought this was a great article about Palin, McCain's VP choice. I'm liking his pick more and more. http://www.time.com/time/nation/article/0,8599,1837713,00.html?cnn=yes
